Dear Friends,
It's never an easy task to shop for a melon. No matter how much you shake it, tap it or gently squeeze it, you can never tell whether it's going to be a good one until you eat it. But what a tremendous feeling when you get it right!
I often walk through the streets looking at the faces and expressions of the folk passing by. Quite often we might exchange a greeting or a simple smile as we go by, but I often wonder what is going on deeper within. And if I'm honest, sometimes I wonder if they can sense what's happening in me.
Think of that chance encounter on an Easter evening walk between two sad, dejected and puzzled friends. They had witnessed the loss of a friend - more than a friend - and it simply didn't make sense. There were so many emotions, questions, fears, dashed hopes which desperately needed to be understood but it was just too much. Then, joined by a fellow traveller, they eventually realised that somehow he was alive, and Jesus' promise of resurrection was a reality.
As Christian people who follow a risen Lord, let us make it easy for others to see our inner faith by our acts of kindness and words of hope.
Let's not be like a melon that needs to be prodded and tapped, but ready and open to share the joy of our Easter faith.
With every blessing,
Helen & Andy
